I read faster than I tidy up. Both eventually show.
If I were…
a license: One Piece. Over a thousand chapters, and still the same reason to keep going.
a character: Usopp. He lies, he's scared, he comes back anyway. The most human of the crew.
a Funko line: the classics. No base, no diorama, just the character.
a line of dialogue: "I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!" You can say it a thousand times and it never wears out.
a collector's flaw: I buy the character before checking whether he already exists in three versions. He always already exists in three versions.
What I collect
On my shelves: mostly POP! Animation. One Piece and Naruto first, then Hunter x Hunter and Attack on Titan, plus a Pokémon corner that dates back to when I was ten.
My buying rule: the figure has to point to a specific moment in the manga. A chapter, an arc, a panel. Otherwise it's just decoration.
The one I'm still hunting: the very first One Piece POPs, from before the big waves. They've become hard to come across.
My favorites
- My favorite POP: Naruto running #727
- My favorite POP collection: One Piece
- My favorite POP feature: the classics
