Funko had warned us that most of its new releases for 2024 would be devoted to animation. Well, the brand hasn't lied, since it's (yet again) new POP figures from a famous animated series that have just been unveiled.
Hold on to your hats, we're not just talking about a small announcement, but a total of 13 new Funko POP figures featuring numerous characters and even a few Chase POPs.
13 new Demon Slayer POPs from the "Entertainment District" arc
For these new POPs, Funko plunges us into the 6th Demon Slayer story arc, offering fans the chance to see their favorite characters in the outfits worn in these episodes.
Including the variations (notably 2 Funko POP Chase), this adds a total of 15 new POPs to the Demon Slayer set, a veritable tsunami! The good news is all the new characters you'll be able to collect, since 8 of the 13 figures have never been "popified" before!
Let's start with the trio Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, disguised as women as they try to infiltrate the local brothels. These POPs are very successful and faithful to the costumes worn by the characters.
Next comes a POP of Tengen Uzui (in classic and Chase) featuring the Pillar of Sound, who has sent Tanjiro on a mission after losing contact with his three kunoichis... Note: the Chase version is a metal version of the original figure.
Funko offers a third figure of Tengen in his red kimono (POP #1537).
Makio, Suma and Hinatsuru, the three kunoichis of Tengen Uzui, are also part of the line-up. Each has unique skills.
Funko also featured demons, notably Daki, responsible for the disappearances in the neighborhood.
A nice nod to the arc with a POP (#1536) in tribute to the mice who rallied around Tengen. Muscle Mouse" shows off his over-inflated biceps!
A POP featuring Aoi Kanzaki is also available in a classic or chase version. In the original version, Aoi wears her standard navy-blue demon-slaying uniform, while the chase version shows her in a white nurse's dress simply slipped over her uniform.
An arc that transports us to a world of delights and dangers
The Pleasure District Arc, also known as the Entertainment District Arc, is the sixth story arc in the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
It follows Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira on a dangerous mission in Yoshiwara's Entertainment District. This district, renowned for its brothels and courtesans, is also home to a fearsome demon responsible for the disappearance of several women...
Tengen Uzui, the Pillar of Sound, has lost contact with his three kunoichis sent on an infiltration mission and asks Tanjiro and his friends for help in finding them.
When Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke finally manage to identify the culprit demon - or demons, rather - the slayers embark on intense battles against demons and higher moons! It will take some sacrifice to defeat them...
This is probably one of my favorite arcs of the anime. As the demons grow ever more powerful, the slayers must forge alliances and make sacrifices to succeed in their mission - a real turning point in Demon Slayer!
