Avatar, the Last Airbender or Avatar: The Legend of Aang is an American animated television series in 61 episodes of 24 minutes created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and aired between 2005 and 2008. The series was written so that each episode represents a chapter and each season a book.
The story takes place in an imaginary world, populated by humans and fantastic animals. A world in which human civilization is composed of four peoples: the Water Tribes who inhabit the poles, the Earth Kingdom in the East, the Fire Nation in the West and the Air Nomads who move between the four temples located in the four corners of the world. In each of these peoples, there are people called "masters" who have the ability to manipulate their element of origin (Waterbending, Earthbending, Firebending and Airbending). However, the powerful Fire Nation, in its arrogance and thirst for power, has decided to fight against the other tribes in order to control the world, creating an imbalance in this world. Only the Avatar, a person capable of controlling the four elements, could maintain the balance and put an end to this war. Unfortunately, he went missing just when the world needed him. It is only 100 years later that two young people from the South Pole Water Tribe, Katara and Sokka, discover and free the young Avatar, the last master of Air, Aang, aged about 12 years, trapped inside an iceberg all this time. The series will follow the adventures of Aang and his friends in their quest to save the world from the Fire Nation, Aang being the only one who can do it. However, before he can save anyone, the young Avatar will have to start by learning to master the other three elements: Water, Earth and Fire.
