Tokyo Ghoul is a seinen manga written and drawn by Sui Ishida, a Japanese mangaka. This manga consists of two parts, the first with 14 volumes published from 2011 to 2014 and the second, Tokyo Ghoul: re published between 2014 and 2018, comprising 16 volumes. This work has been sold more than 44 million copies worldwide and will subsequently have an adaptation in animated series that will be done by the famous Japanese animation studio Studio Pierrot, comprising 3 seasons.
The story of this manga takes place in the capital of Japan, Tokyo, where monstrous creatures called ghouls have appeared. These ghouls have an extraordinary strength and are also invulnerable to knives. They can only eat human flesh and coffee to survive, it is impossible for them to eat other human foods. One day, during a meeting with a pretty young girl, Kaneki Ken a young student, is attacked by the latter, indeed this girl turned out to be a powerful ghoul. However during the attack, the ghoul is killed by the fall of a metallic beam before having been able to devour Ken. Taken to the hospital in critical condition, the doctors decide to transplant the dead ghoul's organs into the young student's body to save him. After this tragedy, Ken learns to his cost that he becomes a hybrid half-human half-goul. Very destabilized by the fact that he cannot eat like a normal human, he will be recruited as a waiter in a café called "The Antique", a den of ghouls who eat without killing humans. He will then learn that there is a war between the ghouls and the GCC (Ghoul Control Center), a group of special policemen whose goal is the extermination of the ghouls. Soon, Ken will realize the delicate position he is in. He will have to make a choice and find his way, between the humans and the ghouls.
