POP Princess Diana in red dress (Chase) (The Royal Family)

Lady Di became the Princess of Wales when she married Prince Charles in 1981, becoming part of the British Royal Family. Diana and Charles are the parents of William and Harry, who are the natural heirs to the English throne.

Diana quickly gained a growing fame and the benevolence of the English people. Quickly nicknamed Lady Di, her kindness is often contrasted with the harshness of the monarchy and the coldness of the protocols personified by Queen Elizabeth II. Lady Di finally regained her freedom by divorcing Prince Charles in 1996 but remained for all the "Princess of Wales".

She is certainly one of the most beloved princesses in the world, and her death in a car accident in Paris under the Alma Tunnel in 1997 was an even more sad event. This tragic death moved the whole world and millions of testimonies and flowers flocked to her home, under the Alma tunnel and at her funeral in Westminster.
