POP action figure of Leeloo #190
Leeloo is played by Mila Jovovich who was also the wife of Luc Besson, director of The Fifth Element. As an undefined but overpowering cosmic entity called Evil is about to destroy the universe, only a weapon can counter it. A weapon that relies on five elements guarded by the Mondoshawans, an alien race with arcane abilities to defeat Evil. Where four of these elements cannot be embodied other than by air, water, fire and earth, a fifth element is required to complete the ingredients of this weapon.
This fifth element is then synthesized by scientists in order to counter Evil. Supposed to embody the supreme being, this fifth element will take the appearance of a young woman with orange hair, not red hair. Artificially created, she is endowed with incomparable strength and dexterity, but has no command of language and no social skills to interact with her contemporaries. Because of her crucial role in the fight against Evil, the powers that be, mobilized by the figure of Jean-Baptise Emanuel Zorg, seek to seize her and the other four elements in order to destroy the only weapon capable of defeating Evil.
Leeloo, after having escaped from the laboratory from which she was created, literally falls on Korben Dallas by crashing into his cab. The latter, hypnotized by her beauty, will do her a favor by losing her pursuers. After Father Vito Cornelius finds Leeloo, he asks Korben to be his bodyguard, even though Korben has no idea of the girl's importance. With Korben, Leeloo slowly learns to socialize and master the language, starting with the word "Multipass" which she repeats over and over. "Leeloo Multipass" has remained, even decades later, as the cult line par excellence of the film.
After many adventures during which she will almost die, Leeloo, as the fifth element, will sacrifice herself so that the weapon capable of defeating Evil can work. She will nevertheless manage to survive thanks to the help of Korben.
Leeloo's POP figure represents her later in the storyline after she has been properly dressed. Also, Leeloo, with her fashionable outfit of the future, wears a white shirt that does not cover her navel, beige pants with straps and some kind of orange suspenders that are held between her thighs. A rather eccentric outfit that Funko has well transcribed on the POP and that Leeloo wears however wonderfully with, at her feet, a pair of combat boots which she will make a formidable use.
It goes without saying that Leeloo's figure represents her with her distinctive orange hair. But the most striking and distinctive element is what she is holding in her hand. For Leeloo is wearing the famous Multipass from which she takes her famous "Leeloo Multipass" replica on the POP.
