POP Black Lodge Cooper & Black Lodge Laura (Twin Peaks)

When, finally, after the succession of strange events which occurred following the death of Laura Palmer, the special agent Dale Cooper approaches what will be the matrix of a phenomenon, this one is then a thousand leagues away from suspecting what awaits him on the spot. It is at the very end of the second season of Twin Peaks - in spite of some introductory forewords - that we will then have an overall view of what we should call the "Black Lodge" or even, the black lodge.

This lodge is not black because of the colors that run through it, but because of the monstrosities that slumber there. In fact, the Nez Perce tribe, originally from the land on which the small town of Twin Peaks is located, had once conceived a legend that came to life. A legend where it was a question of evil possession post-mortem having incarnated in the reality by being concretized with the Black Lodge.

This lodge, then, is in reality an inter-dimensional space serving as a portal between the dimension from which certain evil entities come and the world of humans. These evil entities, such as Bob, can only enter the human world if they take possession of the body of a person lost in the Black Lodge, a mystical place made of huge red curtains as walls and a checkerboard floor... When Special Agent Dale Cooper goes to get lost there, Bob will take possession of his body in the same way that another entity manipulated a fake Laura Palmer.

A Doppelganger of Dale Cooper will then manage to get out of the Black Lodge to commit misdeeds in his name while the real Dale Cooper was captive in the Black Lodge for 25 years. In their Black Lodge version, Dale Cooper and Laura Palmer appear much more gloomy even if nothing, physically, allows to distinguish them from the original.

Thus, the Funko POP Black Lodge Cooper & Black Lodge Laura duo pack presents the two characters at their most terrifying. And for good reason, they are not themselves anymore. Thus, the two POP versions of "Black Lodge" of Dale Cooper and Laura are chilling just in their attitudes and dress. Dressed in deep black, Cooper and Laura look like they're staring at you, ready to do your worst.

It is noticeable on the two Black Lodge Cooper and Black Lodge Laura POP figures that the characters do not dress and wear their hair like the originals. Dale Cooper gums his hair in a different way while Laura, or rather her Doppelganger, shows up with clear and chilling eyes like in the mythical scene where she starts screaming!

Finally, in a nod to the character of Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks and his addiction to coffee, the fact that Funko has represented the special agent spilling his cup is enough to prove that he is a Doppelganger. The original would never have wasted a single drop of this beverage... It is also worth noting that the position of Laura's arms on this POP is the same as the one at the very end of season 2, where she announced a comeback 25 years later; a period at the end of which season 3 of Twin Peaks was broadcast.
