The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is the emblematic Disney film depicting life in Paris in the 1500s, in the shadow of the towers of Notre-Dame Cathedral. The story is told by Clopin, a gypsy who tells children, using his puppets, the story of Quasimodo, known as "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".
Clopin tells the story of a baby reluctantly taken in by Frollo when he has just murdered the child's mother. Frollo, as much disgusted by the baby's gypsy origins as by the unfavourable physique of the child with the broken mouth and the hump on his back, decides to raise him in hiding and entrusts him with the responsibility of being the ringer of the cathedral bells. Forbidden to go out, Quasimodo befriends the gargoyles and dreams only of taking part in the outside world, which he admires from the heights of the cathedral towers.
The day of the festival of the madmen, Quasimodo decides to go there. He is soon spotted in the crowd and elected King of the Mad, a title given to the ugliest disguise. Unfortunately, people soon realize that it is not a disguise and humiliate the hunchback.
At the same time, Frollo, who had become a judge, ordered Captain Phoebus to expel all the gypsies from Paris, including a young woman by the name of Esmeralda. Esmeralda is a barefoot dancer who capsizes all hearts: Quasimodo's, Phoebus's but also Frollo's.
Finding refuge and seeking asylum in Notre-Dame Cathedral, Esmeralda befriends Quasimodo. She is the first not to reject him and to sincerely appreciate him, giving him all her confidence and being able to count on the Hunchback of Notre-Dame to help her get out of the clutches of Frollo who, if he cannot have her in his heart, simply wants to see her at a pyre in the square of Notre-Dame.
The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is the Disney animated film adapted from Victo Hugo's novel "Notre Dame de Paris". Funko pays homage to this literary classic and Disney legend by directing Quasimodo, and more recently Esmeralda.
If only two characters are available in figurines, fans of The Hunchback will be able to catch up with 3 original versions of Quasimodo!
