POP action figure of Quasimodo #633

Quasimodo is the central character in the Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Based on Victor Hugo's novel "Notre Dame de Paris", the film recounts the life of Quasimodo as told by the gypsy Clopin to children using small puppets.

Clopin tells how Quasimodo was taken in by Frollo and appointed bell ringer. He describes a very ugly man, frightening to children with a deformed face, standing bent over and with a large bump on his back.

The story is true, and Quasimodo lives secluded in the heights of the cathedral. He only frequents Frollo who comes to visit him daily, calling him "Master" and obeying his instructions, including never to leave the cathedral. His only friends are the gargoyles and his only dream is to discover the world and the people outside.

Since his birth, Quasimodo has been contemplating the show that takes place on the square in front of Notre-Dame. Especially on the day of the feast of the madmen where everyone disguises themselves and the ugliest costume is elected "King of the madmen". This year, Quasimodo breaks his master's orders and goes out to take part in the festival.

Quasimodo is spotted in the crowd and ends up being elected King of Fools, he is cheered and carried by the crowd. He is given the cape, the sceptre and crowned king. When he reveals his identity, the crowd realizes that he is not wearing a disguise and that Quasimodo was born "ugly"... He is then humiliated by the crowd who reject him for his ugliness.

The hunchback takes refuge in the cathedral and meets Esmeralda, a gypsy pursued by Frollo who tries to escape him. The two become friends (an unattainable love for Quasimodo that turns into a sincere friendship) to the point that Quasimodo will do anything to defend his protégée.

Frollo wants to expel the gypsies from Paris and orders Phoebus to flush them out and capture Esmeralda. Phoebus will also fall under the spell of the beautiful gypsy. Using malice, Frollo will manipulate Phoebus and Quasimodo to capture Esmeralda. Quasimodo will then oppose his master to prevent his friend from being burned at the stake.

For this new POP of Quasimodo, Funko has represented the Hunchback holding a toy representing himself! We find the figurine of Quasimodo where he stands rather curved and where we recognize his deformed face with his flattened nose and his swollen eye. Quasimodo is wearing his usual outfit with his tunic and green tights.

This figure of Quasimodo stands out from the other POPs of the same character because it presents better the personality of Quasimodo: a young man alone, who remains locked up under the bells of Notre-Dame with only the gargoyles as his friends, even coming to play with toys made by himself and in his effigy!
