POP Esmeralda (The hunchback of Notre Dame)

Esmeralda is one of the central characters in Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She plays a young gypsy woman who captivates hearts as she dances in the cathedral square.

Adapted from Victor Hugo's novel, Notre Dame de Paris tells the story of Paris in the 1500s. At that time, Frollo, a ruthless judge, wants to chase the gypsies out of the capital. To do so, he recruits Phoebus, a young captain, and mandates him to arrest the outlaws.

Frollo's story about the gypsies is not new since his hatred goes back many years before when he murdered a gypsy woman trying to flee while carrying her baby. Frollo was convinced that she was fleeing with a booty and had to force herself to raise the child he named Quasimodo. He hid the latter in the towers of the cathedral, instilling in her a strict upbringing out of sight. Quasimodo is deformed, his face ugly and he stands bent forward which accentuates his hump on his back. Quasimodo and Esmeralda will become friends, even though he has much more loving feelings towards the beautiful gypsy girl...

While Esmeralda is being pursued by Frollo, the bell ringer will come between her and her master to protect her. Esmeralda, who is condemned to be burned at the stake in a public place, manages to escape with the help of this precious friend. Frollo's hatred and violence are unmasked and the bells of Notre Dame Cathedral can ring again.

Funko pays homage to the beautiful gypsy girl with this POP fugurine by Esmeralda. We find the young woman in her gypsy outfit proudly wearing her long purple dress and white corset. Her face is radiant, her big dark eyes are made up and her hair is covered with a simple piece of pink fabric.

On the accessories side Funko reveals a very beautiful figurine of Esmeralda with ornaments and jewels as the gypsy wears them in the Disney movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame. We find her with large earrings, wristbands and Esmeralda even wears a bracelet on her right foot.

On the figurine, Esmeralda plays timpani as if she were singing and dancing on the square in front of the cathedral on Crazy Day. This figurine goes perfectly with the figurine of Quasimodo dressed as King of Fools!
