Discover the action figures of Gladiator

Gladiator is Ridley Scott's film immersing us in the Roman Empire at the time of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. The latter, strong of the conquests of his empire and now old and dying. On the battlefield, he announces to his general Maximus Decimus Meridius that he intends to cede power to him instead of passing it on to his own convenient son. Marcus Aurelius is convinced of Maximus' wisdom and his ability to lead, he also asks him to make Rome a Republic by entrusting power to the Senate when the time comes.

When Marcus Aurelius announces his decision to Commodus, his son understands that his father does not love him as much as Maximus. Commodus's ambition turns into hatred and he kills Marcus Aurelius before he can officially succeed him. Commodus becomes Caesar, the Emperor of Rome. His first decision is to execute General Maximus as well as his wife and son.

Maximus manages to escape, and travels thousands of miles to return home as soon as possible. When he arrives, he finds the bodies of his wife and son burned and hanged. He collapses, left for dead.

Maximus finds himself captured and enslaved. He hides his identity and is nicknamed "the Spaniard". Bought by a Roman businessman, he becomes a gladiator. Maximus then has only one project: to avenge his family by killing Commodus...

From fights to victories in the arena, Maximus is quickly spotted until he enters the Colosseum arena. Offering a dazzling spectacle, Marcus Aurelius wishes to salute the one who calls himself "the Spaniard". He then discovers that the latter is not a simple slave when Maximus reveals his identity: Maximus Decimus Meridius, general of the Roman armies and faithful servant of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius!

Commodus is mad with rage and wants to see Maximus dead. Nevertheless, the people love Maximus and Commodus cannot get rid of him so easily at the risk of being even more hated. At the same time, the Senate wants to seize this opportunity to decimate Commodus.

The last fight of Maximus and Commodus will oppose them in the most beautiful of arenas, the Colosseum, for a fight to the death where there will be no victor but death and the regained greatness of Rome...

Funko makes a beautiful tribute to this masterpiece of the peplum. Ridley Scott's film starring Russel Crowe (Maximus) and Joaquin Phoenix (Chest of Drawers) is magnificent and the POPs are faithful to the characters and the different scenes of the film.

We find only the two main characters in POP figurine, Maximus appears in three variations with different costumes while Commodus wears his Roman emperor's outfit. The POPs are very successful even if we would have appreciated to find more characters with for example figures of Marcus Aurelius or even Lucillia his daughter, Lucius the nephew of Commodus or Cicero the faithful servant of Maximus!
