POP Gargamel with Azrael (The Smurfs)

Gargamel is the sworn enemy of the Smurfs. Unlike the little blue characters, Gargamel is a man. He lives not far from the Smurfs' village and devotes most of his activity to alchemy (or witchcraft concerning him?).

It is because he is convinced that the Smurfs are the essential ingredient in the elaboration of the Philosopher's Stone that Gargamel wants to capture them at all costs! He therefore uses all his time to imagine different stratagems to capture the Smurfs. If he sometimes succeeds, the Smurfs always end up escaping and even taking revenge on this evil being. Thus, Gargamel often undergoes situations that are not very amusing, and the one who is finally the "big bad guy" ends up touching us sometimes...

In the Smurfs comic strip created by Peyo, Gargamel is the stereotype of the bad guy. He lives alone (or almost alone because he has his cat Azrael as a companion) and is represented as an old man with a bitter physique: hunchbacked, almost bald, with banged teeth and fingers very often curled up like claws!

Obsessed by The Smurfs, Gargamel's greatest enemy remains Papa Smurf. The latter considers Gargamel to be a poor sorcerer, unable to recite the formula of the love potion which is the basis of the discipline.

Funko could not propose POP of the Smurfs without realizing a figurine to the main antagonist of the comic strip! So here is a POP of Gargamelle, accompanied by her faithful cat Azrael. The figurine of Gargamel is particularly successful since we can easily guess that this last one is chasing the Smurfs. Indeed, he stands with outstretched arms and crooked fingers as if he was about to catch a Smurf.

Gargamel's POP is also very faithful to the character's physique: we find the almost bald skull, the thick eyebrows, the thick hair, the dark circles under the eyes and the only intact tooth he has left! On the POP figurine, Gargamel wears the outfit in which we constantly find him in the albums: red shoes and a black tunic patched with fabric checks.

Finally, Azrael's little POP figure also reminds us of the red-haired cat, with a character as mean as his master. Funko has very well accentuated the terrifying look of Gargamel's cat by representing the little character's furrowed eyebrows.
