POP Benjamin Franklin (American History)

Benjamin Franklin is one of the founding fathers of the United States, a contributor to the Declaration of Independence alongside Thomas Jefferson, a talented diplomat and inventor of genius, he contributed enormously to the development of the United States in various disciplines.

One might think that Benjamin Franklin had many lives, but the man whose face now marks the $100 bills has instead had a full life as a curious self-taught man. Born into a modest family, he managed to make a fortune as a printer before launching himself late into political life where he became the US ambassador to France. At the same time, Benjamin Franklin distinguished himself as an inventor and scientist, and is notably credited with the invention of the lightning conductor, one of the first examples of which was installed in his own house! He also pushed his research in the meteorological field, invented bifocals and mapped the Gulf Stream!

It is this "inventor of genius" side that Funko wanted to retain by proposing a Benjamin Franklin's POP figurine in the American History collection and by making it appear alongside other characters and icons of America as with George Washington's POP or Uncle Sam's figurine!

Indeed, Funko makes a beautiful nod to the life of Benjamin Franklin by representing him in full realization of what has been called the kite experience. Franklin wanted to prove that lightning is simply electric shocks, so Franklin conducted an experiment with a kite to which a metal key was attached. On Benjamin Franklin's POP, we find him holding his kite in his hands and getting ready to take off for his experiment!

Franklin's POP is faithful to the character while the man is already relatively old. We find a character with a bald forehead although his gray hair is relatively long. He wears a full suit with a white shirt, a small beige vest, a brown jacket and brown pants showing his high white socks.

Finally, on this POP figurine, Benjamin Franklin has frowning eyebrows, a sheepish look and wears his small round glasses.
