Public figures are increasingly honoured by Funko, but this is the first time the brand has unveiled figurines featuring two great artists. For this grand premiere, POPs is honouring two great men: Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent Van Gogh.
Do we (still) have to present them? Leonardo da Vinci, an Italian Renaissance genius for his talents in drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, science, music, mathematics and engineering will therefore have his POP figurine. He is represented with a hat on his head, a long white beard and sandals on his feet. In one hand he holds what looks like sheets of paper on which the maestro has drawn plans, in the other his tools as if he was about to make one of his masterpieces.
Vincent van Gogh, a Dutch painter and draughtsman from the impressionist movement and famous for his paintings in the pointillist style, has to his credit the trifle of 2000 works. His POP represents him in full work, brush and palette in hand. The artist is particularly recognizable by his red beard, his straw hat and his simple clothing. The first images revealed do not yet let us see if Funko has pushed the detail to the point of representing the painter's banged ear since he had cut off his right ear.
