Popeye is the comic book hero well known to children (and parents who want to make them eat spinach). Created in 1929 by E.C. Segar, Popeye is a sailor who gets extraordinary strength from eating spinach.

Popeye's rough appearance (he's one-eyed and has oversized arms) and his equally rude attitude when he speaks don't detract from the fact that he is a loyal and courageous character. He regularly opposes the main antagonist who is Brutus, a pirate who is also very strong!

Popeye is certainly one of the best known sailors in the world. Inevitably associated with spinach, which is the secret of his strength, he is the hero of the eponymous comic strip, but also of cartoons and movies. One of them was filmed in Malta, and the village built for the occasion is now an amusement park dedicated to Popeye and the other characters of his universe!
