POP action figure of Popeye #369
Popeye is the hero of the eponymous comic strip. Invented by the American author E.C. Segar in 1929, Popeye is a one-eyed sailor, a bit of a lout, who draws incredible strength from his consumption of spinach!
Presented as a gruff, sensitive and not very intelligent character, Popeye (whose name is the translation of "pooped eye") nevertheless attracts the affection of his readers by his courage and loyalty. Often pitted against the pirate Brutus, Popeye can count on the unwavering support of spinach to pull him through.
Known for his line "I am what I am and that's all I am! Popeye is one of the world's best-known children's characters, known for his line "I am what I am and that's all I am! Probably because parents still use him to make their children eat spinach?
Funko makes a nice nod to this popular culture character with a POP figure from Popeye. We discover the one-eyed sailor in his usual attire: a sailor's outfit with blue pants, a black vest and his cap screwed on his head.
On Popeye's POP, we find many details like the anchor tattoo on his left arm, the pipe he constantly has in his mouth or his face somewhat dented between the pout of his mouth and his one-eyed eye!
Finally, Funko couldn't have imagined a POP figurine with the Popeye effigy without mentioning the secret of his strength. And if Popeye's arms are so strong on the POP, the character reminds us to what he owes this strength by holding a small can of spinach.
