POP Rafiki (The Lion King)

Rafiki is the sage of the kingdom where the almighty lion reigns, King Mufasa whom all animals respect and admire for his wisdom and generosity. He appears in Walt Disney's The Lion King, the greatest cartoon of all time. The grandiose music made it a film for all generations. The Lion King is the story of a destiny, it's the story of life. In fact, it is with this song that the film begins with the scene where the wise Rafiki appears. As he passes by, all the animals prostrate themselves as a sign of respect. Rafiki comes to visit King Mufasa for an important event: he is going to baptize his heir, little Simba, by sprinkling dust on his forehead. He then presents the newborn to the savannah people who have come in great numbers: he then lifts him up into the air from the rock. The gazelles reared up, the elephants barred, the monkeys shouted, all celebrated the birth of their future king.

Mischievous, boisterous and carefree, young Simba only thinks of having fun with his girlfriend Nala to the great despair of his tutor Zazu, Mufasa's faithful butler. He looks forward to exercising his power thinking he can continue to have fun and give orders. He cannot imagine the sacrifices he will have to make. His uncle Scar, who is jealous of his brother's throne, will betray him and lead to his death. Scar then blames Simba for the King's death and persuades him to leave the kingdom. Simba flees into the desert and faints from exhaustion. He finds himself alone for the first time and powerless in the face of a hostile world. But fate will place him on the road to an atypical tandem of friends Timon and Pumbaa. They teach him their philosophy of life Hakuna Matata, life without worries. They will live happily in the jungle until they meet Nala, who persuades Simba to regain his place as King and face his terrible uncle. But Simba is afraid and doubts him. Rafiki, the wise man, will then help her find her way back.

In this Pop! figurine, Rafiki is shown with his stick decorated with fruit that he never leaves. He is tall and thin. His skin is blue-grey and his chest is rather pale grey. We find his mane of white hair and a goatee. On his face, there are several colours ranging from pale blue to sky blue on his cheeks. Around his bright yellow eyes, we find navy blue and a bright red nose. He is represented with a big smile and his posture reminds us of his wisdom.
