POP Mufasa (The Lion King)

Mufasa is an important character in the Disney cartoon The Lion King. He is the father of the famous little Simba, the hero of the cartoon. Mufasa is the king of the savannah, respected by all animals. At the beginning of the story, we see the baptism of young Simba, future king of the savannah. Mufasa is a model for his son, he embodies the values that make the greatest kings. He has a very strong relationship with Simba, a loving father who seeks to transmit the fundamental values and principles to be a good king, values that he himself received from his ancestors. They spend a lot of time together, for example when they go for a walk to discover the kingdom or when Mufasa gives the first hunting lessons.

On the other hand, Mufasa has a more complex relationship with his younger brother, Scar, who is jealous of the position of king. The latter, Machiavellian and manipulative, will engineer several plans to take Mufasa's place. He succeeds by taking advantage of his nephew's naivety and sets a trap in his throat: he asks him to wait for his father Mufasa who has a surprise for him. The hyenas, on Scar's orders, attack a herd of wildebeest that panic and fall down the gorge endangering Simba's life. Mufasa, warned by Scar, comes to his rescue and manages to bring him back to the top of the cliff. He finds himself on the verge of falling and Scar betrays him by voluntarily pushing him into the void and towards his death. Guilty about the death of her father, Simba flees into the desert, leaving the kingdom to her uncle.

On this Pop! figurine, Funko represented Mufasa sitting in a very dignified posture. You can recognize his orange coat with his big legs and his tail with the tuft of hair coming back to the front. His muzzle with its flattened nose and the big relaxed smile give him elegance and grandeur. Its large eyes are half closed in a very calm attitude. You can also recognize his dark orange mane that elegantly surrounds his face, giving him even more presence.
