POP action figure of Alex Armstrong #433
In Central City, we find eccentric and atypical personalities, those amassed in the ranks of the army. Major Alex Armstrong is one of these colorful characters and especially, high in size. One notices it very quickly, Major Armstrong is of a monstrous stature. With a height of nearly two meters, the man presents himself with muscles swollen and chiseled from the models of Greek gods. His huge, bushy, blond mustache, in addition to being remarkably combed, draws attention to it, only to distract from his shiny, hairless skull from which only a small blond lock protrudes.
Major Armstrong serves in Central City under Colonel Roy Mustang. Everyone knows Alex Armstrong as a man who can be counted on, but who is sometimes far too considerate. Despite his dozens of pounds of bulging muscle, Major Alex Armstrong is not a tough guy. At least, not outside of combat...
Indeed, he attaches himself very easily to people and shows an overflowing and suffocating affection towards those he loves: these being very numerous! His affection is literally suffocating in the sense that he hugs the people he likes to the point of taking their breath away. Edward Elric fears Alex Armstrong in particular, who hugs him excessively and behaves with him like a mother with her child.
Major Armstrong's sensitive personality, before the events of Fullmetal Alchemist, had been severely tested by the Ishvald civil war. A bloody conflict in which tens of thousands of innocent people lost their lives. In despair, he cried out in anger amidst the ruins as he held the body of a dead child. He who had joined the army to serve would suffer from this deplorable episode. What, thereafter, will only incite him better to launch out in the internal conflict of the army after the plots were revealed one after the other. An unwavering ally of the Elric brothers, he'll go so far as to fight alongside his sister, the icy Olivia Mira Armstrong, in order to defeat the Homunculus Sloth, capable of surpassing the Major's demented power.
The Alex Armstrong POP figure shows him in his military uniform. Or at least, only a part of it. Indeed, Major Alex Armstrong is represented shirtless on this POP, all his muscles ostensibly displayed. This is because, as an accomplished bodybuilder, the major loves to show off his massive muscles.
So Major Alex Armstrong's Funko POP shows him in a martial stance, ready to fight, in a posture that relates to the boxing he uses in his fights. Naturally, his alchemist power is exercised from a medium. Therefore, Funko did not omit to represent the brass knuckles from which he delivers blows of inordinate power, earning him his rank in the Central City army.
Finally, as a nod to this friendly Fullmetal Alchemist character, the POP figure of Major Alex Armstrong would not be true to the original without his long eyelashes giving the character a grotesque yet endearing look.
