POP Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Edward Elric, although the plot is divided between his adventures and those of his brother, remains nevertheless THE main character of Fullmetal Alchemist. Indeed, contrary to a frequent confusion, he is the Fullmetal Alchemist and not his brother who, however, is entirely made of metal since his soul has migrated into an armor.

Edward is known as the Fullmetal Alchemist because of his automail prosthesis. Indeed, the latter, while trying to bring his mother back to life thanks to a dubious alchemical experiment, lost his right arm and his left leg in the process. Both limbs were then replaced by the automail that Winry Rockbell will frequently repair.

Edward Elric is also known as the Fullmetal Alchemist because he uses a form of alchemy centered around minerals and, in particular, the metal of his automail which he uses for offensive purposes. His title of State Alchemist surprises everyone in the sense that a boy as young as 14 years old has been given military accreditation to attest to his rank. Many make fun of him because of his short stature, a subject to which he is particularly sensitive.

Of the two brothers, he is certainly the more impulsive. His ardor comes from the fact that he is determined to allow his brother Alphonse to return to his original body. For him, becoming a State Alchemist was like selling his soul to the devil in the hope of finding a cure through the army archives and their networks.

Unknowingly, Edward found himself involved in a huge conspiracy involving different nations as well as the corruption of many army officials. His quest for the Philosopher's Stone will lead to his interests converging with those of the army he works for, putting him at odds with formidable enemies. Unlike many main characters of Shônens, Edward Elric is far from being the most powerful character of the series. He prefers to show off his cunning and his sense of cunning rather than brute force.
