POP Mrs. Potts & Chip (Beauty and The Beast)

Mrs. Potts is a secondary character in the movie Beauty and the Beast, a film adaptation of the Disney cartoon. The story is based on a tale about the meeting of a young woman, Beauty, and an arrogant prince, turned into a monster because of a curse. One winter's evening, an old lady offers a rose to the prince in exchange for shelter, and the prince chased away the lady who turned out to be a witch. To punish the prince, she turned him into a horrible beast and cast a spell on the castle and its inhabitants in the form of various objects. All of them will be able to regain their human form the day the Beast shows itself capable of loving and being loved in return despite its hideous appearance.

Mrs. Potts is thus transformed into a porcelain teapot with her children, or rather her tea cups, the most famous of which is Zip. She was the housekeeper, her role was to watch over the life of the castle and serve her master and his guests, especially during the meal where she managed the kitchen and the preparation of the dishes. When Belle offers to become a servant to free her father sent to the dungeon by the Beast for entering the castle without permission, Mrs. Potts and other enchanted objects see the possibility of being delivered from their fate.

Mrs. Potts is helpful and devoted and always offers a hot cup of tea. At the castle, she takes on the role of a mother, she is loving and generous. She does not hesitate to lecture the Beast when she finds that he forgets the rules of politeness and decency.

Here in this Pop figurine, Funko represents the character of Mrs. Potts accompanied by her son Zip, in the version of the film adaptation. It has a baroque style and is decorated with many gildings. The eyes, eyebrows and mouth are drawn on the teapot. Her son Zip poses next to her, represented as a small cup in a saucer. He is represented in the same style as his mother, with gold patterns. The handle of the cup serves as his nose and as in the cartoon, he is chipped on the side. His little smile on his face reminds us that he is the most mischievous of all Mrs. Potts's children.
