POP Ali 199 (Squid Game)

Ali, also known in the Squid Game as "199" because of his order of arrival among the participants, is one of the unfortunate candidates for the most macabre games ever. However, he participated in these games of his own free will, despite what it meant.

The Squid Game, from the series of the same name, is a clandestine game that involves the eventual death of its participants. A secret organization, financed by investors who want to enjoy cruel games, has set up a structure where various desperate candidates can be invited. The procedure is simple. Once they have spotted a person who is very heavily in debt, the members of the organization offer him or her an innocent game. When the player has won, he or she can then participate in the Squid Game where he or she will be taken in great secrecy. There, the candidate will be asked to play children's games where he will risk his life. Like during a game of 1, 2, 3 sun where the one who would move after the signal would be shot.

Ali happens to be one of these participants. He struggles to make friends because he is a Pakistani immigrant who has come to South Korea to work. Exploited in his job, in debt to help his family, he is overwhelmed by the events and gives in to the call of the Squid Game. Despite the vote to leave the game after the first hecatomb among the candidates, he, like all the others, will come back to hope to win the jackpot at the end of the competition. Of all the characters, Ali is known for his debonair temperament, his generosity as well as his inordinate strength. He is the one who, literally at arm's length, saves Seong Gi-Hun from certain death. Afterwards, Ali befriended Cho Sang-Woo. A friendship that is put to the test when the fourth trial occurs.

With a kindness that borders on naivety, Ali will often be deceived, starting with his work but also by those he trusts the most. Of all the participants in the Squid Game, he will be the most honest. This trait, however, will not necessarily be well rewarded.

We can guess from his build and the width of his shoulders the titanic strength with which he will have saved his team during the game of the rope.
