POP Batman (The Batman)

Bruce Wayne is the vigilante of Gotham. In the movie The Batman, it has been two years since Bruce took on the role of the Dark Knight and watches over the streets of Gotham. Crime and the mafia still rule the city, but Batman has changed the fear of sides somewhat.

Gotham is in the middle of an election period to choose its future mayor. In smooth sailing, incumbent Mayor Mitchell is pitted against the young Bella Real who is determined to stop the corruption in the city. Halloween night is marked by the murder of the outgoing mayor, a murder with a terrifying staging that marks the beginning of a trail for Batman and a long series of murders. While Bruce Wayne's investigation is complex, he knows two things: the serial killer is called the Riddler and his targets are the city's corrupt personalities: the mayor, the judge, the policeman,...

To stop Riddler, Batman has to dive into the Gotham mafia and get into the nightclub frequented by all the corrupt personalities of the city. The club is run by Oswad Bobblepot aka the Penguin and is also home to Gotham mob boss Farmine Falcone. It is also where Bruce Wayne will meet Selina Kyle aka Catwoman who will become an important ally in stopping the serial killer.

Although he is supported by Inspector Gordon, Batman is still unable to stop Riddler, until he realizes that he, or rather Bruce Wayne, is one of the killer's targets. Riddler is convinced that Thomas Wayne was also corrupt and that the stimulus fund created by the philanthropist before his murder is just a pretext to hide the money laundered by the mafia. With Thomas Wayne dead, it is Bruce Wayne who will have to pay for the sins of his father...

For this very first POP of The Batman set, we discover the "new" costume of the Gotham vigilante in the Matt Reeves' movie released in 2022. A rather classic costume, but with a more realistic side on the materials used. His "bulletproof" aspect is accentuated and it is one of the characteristics most used by the superhero to defeat his enemies.

The Batman figure does not show Robert Pattinson's features because he is fully masked on this POP, however other figures of the set offer POPs of Bruce Wayne without his mask.

For this POP, Batman wears his full outfit with his mask, his grey battle suit, his black cape and his heavy boots which you can hear the sound of scrap metal when he walks. Funko didn't leave out any detail by putting the bat logo on his torso but also by reminding us of the numerous gadgets that equip the superhero.

As a nod to the character, Funko has represented Batman with clenched fists, and we imagine him ready to fight with dozens of enemies. Indeed, if the Dark Knight of Gotham doesn't use firearms, there are many scenes in the movie where he fights with his fists: against petty criminals in the Gotham subway, against the Penguin's men or even against the Gotham police officers who don't really appreciate the competition of this masked man who thinks he is above the law!
