In those days, the pharaoh had to juggle with internal struggles for power. The shadow of Zorc was indeed hanging over Egypt and Bakura the thief sought by any means to overthrow the pharaoh. The plot, then, mixes the priest Seto whose Kaiba is the reincarnation between various other characters making use of their objects of the Millennium to save the pharaoh and his kingdom.

With Yugi's help, the pharaoh managed to overcome the dramatic events in his memory and defeat Bakura once and for all. It is only after this episode that the pharaoh, to find his name and rest in peace, will play a final duel against Yugi. A duel at the end of which he will lose and will discover that his name was none other than Atem.
