Announcement Coming Soon
Published on 16 January 2024 by William
Just a few months ahead of the (much-anticipated) release of Gil Kenan's new Ghostbusters, Funko has unveiled the very first POP figures featuring this latest instalment in the saga.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire to be released in March
Announced as the sequel to L'Héritage (Gil Kenan / Jason Reitman), this new opus promises to continue the Ghostbusters franchise's rejuvenation while taking us back to its roots.
The Spengler family returns to where it all began: the fire station in New York! The story will mix old and new hunters, and the two generations will have to team up to avert the apocalypse of a second Ice Age...
If the synopsis promises great things, if the trailer is tempting, Funko also lets us discover a little more about the film for our great pleasure.
6 POP figurines for the new Ghostbusters (2024)
The line-up of this announcement reveals 6 POP figurines, including a very POP Deluxe of one of the most endearing characters!
Let's start with the ghost hunter POPs: three of them are revealed:
- Phoebe
- Grooberson
- Ray Stantz in a Glow in the Dark POP
On the "bad guys" side, we discover the character of Garraka in a superb POP figurine. The creature appears to be a mummified dog with horns, and promises to give ghost hunters a run for their money! And also that of a creature called Pukey, who looks as disgusting as his name...
Finally, the last figurine unveiled is that of an essential character in the license, and Funko pays him a fine tribute with a Deluxe Mini Bibendum figurine that runs in a wheel like a hamster!
Funko and Ghostsbuters: an unmissable event
Funko has always paid homage to the "Ghostbusters" franchise, with almost fifty POP figurines based on the 1984 film Ghostbusters, featuring hunters Venkman, Stantz, Spengler & Zeddemore, as well as some of the creatures we've come across, such as Slimer and Puft.
Naturally, with the 2021 release of Ghostbusters: Legacy, the figurine brand didn't miss the opportunity to dust off ghostbusters collections, going so far as to offer some twenty POPs from this new opus.
With this new cinema release, it's also inconceivable not to have figurines from The Ice Menace. And if Funko has unveiled the first 6 figures, we can easily imagine that new waves will follow in the weeks to come.
