Persona 4 Revival: These Pops Stop at the First Dungeon

Funko has opened pre-orders for four Persona 4 Revival Pops, four months ahead of the remake. Yu Narukami, Yosuke Hanamura, Chie Satonaka and Teddie: the lineup follows the story closely. These four make up the Investigation Team as it stands at the end of the first dungeon, a week into the game. The person they came to find is missing.

Eighteen years after the PS2, Inaba is back

Persona 4 launched in Japan on July 10, 2008, on a PS2 nearing the end of its life. Atlus brought it back in 2012 on PS Vita as Golden, with a new character, Marie, and an extra epilogue. Revival keeps the Golden story and rebuilds everything else: models, environments, animated cutscenes by studio MAPPA, and music rearranged by Ryota Kozuka from Shoji Meguro's themes. It releases February 18, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, then May 20 on Switch 2.

Atlus picked up the pace this month: a Shadow-focused trailer on October 3, then a short "Welcome to Inaba" teaser set to a new take on Heartbeat, Heartbreak. The English dub is entirely new. Paul Castro Jr. takes over Yosuke from Yuri Lowenthal, Anne Yatco takes over Chie from Erin Fitzgerald, and Nazeeh Tarsha voices the hero. Johnny Yong Bosch is the exception, with a twist longtime fans will enjoy: the 2008 English voice of the hero now voices Adachi. The Japanese cast is unchanged.

The cast stops on the night of Yukiko's Castle

Replay the first month and the wave reads itself. The hero arrives in Inaba in April 2011, by the game's calendar. Yosuke is the first to follow him through the TV screen. Teddie is the first resident they meet there, and he is the one who finds Yukiko Amagi, trapped in a castle. Chie comes along to save her and awakens her Persona, Tomoe, in that first dungeon. The group then picks a leader and a name.

Yosuke, Chie and Teddie are all first-time entries in the catalog. No Chase or exclusive has been announced so far.

Yukiko is still waiting in her castle

I'm taking Yosuke. Teddie will be the best seller of the wave, and he is also the safest bet: a bear mascot looks good as a Pop by default. Yosuke carries the game's first arc, grieving a girl he loved while the town resents his father's supermarket. His figure has more story behind it than the other three combined.

The gap is obvious, and it is in the name of the first dungeon. Funko ships the three rescuers and the guide, not the person being rescued. Yukiko Amagi is the reason the team exists, the subject of Chie's Shadow, and the second ally to officially join the group, on April 30. Without her, the wave tells a mission with no goal. Kanji, Rise and Naoto will probably wait even longer.

Another, quieter absence: no Persona at all. Persona 5 got Arsene as a figure. Izanagi, the hero's first Persona, still has nothing.

Pre-orders are open, with release expected in March 2027, between the game's launch on PS5, Xbox and PC and its arrival on Switch 2.
