In February 2018, Funko released Prince Charles of Wales (#2). Eight years later, the same man returns as King Charles III (#106), his first Pop as sovereign, with a Chase in a scarlet tunic. The new name on the box is enough to date a good part of the first Royal Family wave.
A king on tour when the Pop was announced
The figure lands in the middle of his autumn tour. From October 27 to November 4, 2026, Charles III travels to The Bahamas, Guyana and then Antigua and Barbuda, where he opens the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. It's his first visit to The Bahamas since becoming its king. The United Kingdom is just one of the fifteen countries where he is head of state.
That's a busy schedule for a monarch living with cancer since February 2024. In December 2025, he announced his treatment would be scaled back in 2026. He turns 78 on November 14.
No crown, a field marshal's cap
Funko didn't go with the May 2023 coronation. Charles wears a navy uniform with a red-banded, gold-embroidered peaked cap. On the cap sits the field marshal's badge: two crossed batons inside a laurel wreath. He has held that rank since 2012, across all three services, while his mother was still on the throne. The Chase keeps the same outfit with the scarlet tunic and black cap, the full ceremonial version, at one in six.
The choice fits what a British king actually does in 2026: he reviews troops far more often than he wears the crown. Funko already gave the crown to his mother, with Queen Elizabeth II (Coronation) (#7) in March 2026.
The 2018 wave has the wrong titles
Read the February 2018 boxes again. The Prince of Wales is king. The boxes for Prince William Duke of Cambridge (#4) and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton (#5) still call them Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, although they have been Prince and Princess of Wales since September 2022. Harry is still Harry, and the Sussex duo keeps its title even though they stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Elizabeth II and Diana are accurate, because their stories are over.
That's the rule with figures of real people: they capture a moment. These capture the royal family of 2018, and three of the seven people in the line now hold a different title.
Our take: Camilla is missing
The Chase is the better of the two, no contest. Red and gold are the image the whole world associates with the British monarchy, and the blue version looks like a weekday outfit next to it. I still expected the crown. The field marshal look is accurate, but it's a figure of a job, when people wanted a figure of a coronation.
And Camilla is still nowhere to be found. Queen since 2022, crowned alongside Charles, she has no Pop in the license, while Diana has two. Funko releases a king without his queen and leaves a Prince of Wales on the shelf who no longer exists. For a line called the Royal Family, the family is seriously incomplete.
King Charles III and his Chase are up for pre-order, with release announced for January 2027.
