Judith Grimes, also known as Judy, is one of the main characters of The Walking Dead. Born during the series, Judith Grimes is the first known child in the series to be born during the apocalypse. Judy is the biological daughter of Lori Grimes, wife of Rick Grimes. As for Judy's biological father, no one is really sure that she is Rick's daughter. Indeed, before getting pregnant, Judy's mother had a brief affair with Shane Walsh, Rick's best friend. Soon after, when she thought he was dead, Lori found out that Rick was still alive. The two were then reunited, so it is quite possible that Rick is Judith's biological father. Either way, Rick loves his child unconditionally and takes his paternal role very much to heart. Judith Grimes, now 10 years old, is the only person who has known nothing but life in a world full of horrors and prowlers.

The Walking Dead depicts a world in which humanity is plunged into chaos and violence by monstrous creatures called " walkers". Until then plunged into a coma, Rick Grimes, the main protagonist of the series, wakes up to discover that the entire population has been hit by an unprecedented epidemic. Very mysterious, this epidemic has the particularity to transform humans into zombies, called "walkers" in the series.

Judith Grimes will unfortunately never have had the opportunity to meet her mother, who died during childbirth. Judith's brother, Carl Grimes, will kill their mother by shooting her in the head so that she doesn't turn into a prowler. With Carle deceased and Rick missing for several years, Judith no longer has a blood relative by her side. However, she considers other close friends of her father as her own family, including Michonne, whom she considers her adoptive mother, and Daryl as her surrogate uncle.
