POP David Luiz (Chelsea) (Premier League (UK Football League))

David Luiz is a Brazilian-born footballer who plays for Arsenal as a central defender. Born in 1987, his full name is David Luiz Moreira Marinho. David also has dual Brazilian and Portuguese nationality, but in the national team, he wears the Brazilian jersey!

The defender wearing the number 23 has already played for some of Europe's biggest clubs: Benefica Lisbon, where he began his professional career, then Chelsea, where he shone, notably by winning the Champions League in 2012, PSG, with whom he won the French championship and the French Cup on several occasions, and more recently Arsenal.

David Luiz is a player combining technique and physicality, his style allowing him to be sometimes repositioned as a defensive midfielder. He is also a goal-scoring defender and is reputed to be a good free-kick shooter. It is certainly this broad spectrum of skills that will earn him the distinction of being the most expensive defender in history when he transfers to Paris Saint-Germain in 2014 (this record has since been broken!).
