The armored titan is one of the main antagonists of the Attack of the Titans. Appearing in the first episode of the anime, the armored titan will disturb the semblance of peace in the district of Shiganshina, the hero's hometown. By attacking the Maria Wall, the armored titan then dragged humanity into a real war, pitting titans against humans. Like the female titan or the colossal titan, the armored titan is one of the 9 primordial titans. In possession of Reiner Braun, the armored titan is formidable because of the presence of a multitude of armored plates covering its body. The story of the Attack of the Titans takes place in a medieval era, in which humanity is forced to live within the enclosure of gigantic walls. The role of these walls is to protect humans from monstrous creatures called titans. The plot begins in 845, within the walls of Maria Wall, specifically in the Shiganshina District. Here, in a small village, Eren Jaeger and his family live peacefully.

By destroying the entrance of the Maria Wall, the armored titan will completely disrupt the life of the young boy Eren Jaeger. Only 10 years old at the time of this incident, Eren will see his hometown totally destroyed by the titans. Even worse, Eren will witness a horrific scene in which his own mother is devoured by a titan. From that moment on, the destiny of Eren Jager and the titan are forever linked.

In 847, Eren, accompanied by his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and his childhood friend Armin, joined the 104th training brigade. It is here that they will meet Reiner Braun, holder of the armored titan. Reiner and Eren have a very special relationship. Reiner is Eren's model, he is the one he wants to resemble. Of course, he doesn't know yet who is behind Reiner. In the course of the story, surprisingly, it is Reiner himself who will reveal to Eren that he is the armored Titan. However, the reasons that push the armored titan to act this way, will remain unclear for a large part of the story. When Eren finally understands why the holder of the armored Titan acted in this way, he will realize that he and Reiner are the same. In the end, behind the Titan Dreadnought Reiner Braun wanted only one thing: to save mankind...
