POP Beth Harmon with Trophies (The Queen's Gambit)

Elizabeth Harmon is the young woman at the center of The Queen's Gambit series, broadcast on Netflix. The 7 episodes follow Beth's life from her tormented childhood to adulthood and her victories over the world's greatest chess players.

Beth miraculously survives a car accident in which her mother dies. She is placed in the Methuen Orphanage, where she befriends Jolene, a young black girl who is also too old to be adopted.

It was at the orphanage that Beth learned to play chess from Mr. Shaibel, the maintenance worker who was passionate about chess. She quickly demonstrated a talent for the game and threw herself body and soul into becoming the best chess player in the world. Elisabeth begins her first tournaments by participating in local competitions where she gives no chance to her opponents, despite her very young age. Then, making a name for herself, she took part in bigger competitions, even becoming US champion and winning her ticket to the world championships. This tournament is the one where she will face the only player who "scares" her: the Russian world champion Borgov!

This POP figurine of Beth Harmon presents her as a child. She is about ten years old on the POP and has just left the orphanage, adopted by Mrs. Wheatley. Having had her first success in chess, a local newspaper does an article on the young girl with incredible chess talents and the photographer immortalizes a picture to illustrate the article. Funko used Beth's posture in the photo for this POP.

So we find the girl with the red hair and the square cut with the plated hair. She is wearing a navy blue dress, with a white claudine collar matching her little shoes. The figurine is very faithful to the character in Le jeu de la Dame since we discover a rather reserved young girl with a look that says a lot about her ambitions...

Finally, on the accessories side, Funko chose to represent Beth Harmon proudly holding her first cups won in small tournaments. She holds one in each hand, and poses under the photographer's lens proudly showing them off.
