Grey's anatomy is an American television series created by Shonda Rhimes. The series has been broadcast in France since July 2006. It is currently in its seventeenth season, making it the longest medical series in the United States. The name of the series is a play on words between the surname of the main character Meredith Grey, played by the actress Ellen Pompeo, and the title of a textbook Gray's Anatomy written in 1858, considered as the bible of the anatomy of the human body.
Grey's Anatomy thus puts in scene a medical team and tells the life of a fictitious university hospital called the Seattle Grace Hospital. Viewers also get to see the lives of the doctors and surgeons in the series. The series begins with the arrival of a new class of interns, including Meredith Grey, Alex Karev, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens and George O'Malley. Meredith must study for seven years to be successful in her specialty.
The new interns are under the supervision of a resident, nicknamed the bully: Dr. Miranda Bailey. Also discovered are two incumbents, Dr. Derek Shepherd and Dr. Preston Burke. The surgical department is headed by Dr. Richard Webber, who is very close to Meredith's mother (Dr. Ellis Grey) who now has Alzheimer's disease. He will be treating Meredith as his adopted daughter and will guide her throughout her internship.
Other main or secondary characters will be added over the seasons, interns, attendants, patients? The series follows the evolution of these characters and their careers with the ups and downs of their personal and sentimental lives. Some build friendships, others love. The main character remains Meredith Grey and it is her life that will be the main thread throughout the series. Over the course of the episodes, we see her evolve, first as an intern, a resident, an attending, she becomes chief of general surgery.
Funko Pop has announced the arrival of Funko Pop with the characters from Grey's Anatomy, which will delight all fans of the American series. For the moment, the four famous and emblematic doctors of the Grey Sloan Memorial have been created. They include Meredith Grey, Derek Shepherd nicknamed Dr. Mamour, Grey's gifted and best friend Cristina Yang and Miranda Bailey. They are all dressed in the work clothes of attending surgeons. It is hoped that more figurines will arrive very soon to complete this collection.
