Originally from Nebraska, she moved to Los Angeles to become an actress, she works as a waitress at The Cheesecake Factory restaurant in the meantime. At the beginning of the series, she moves into the apartment opposite Leonard and Sheldon and Leonard's apartment which will soon fall under the charm. In spite of their different worlds, Penny integrates well into the group and a strong friendship will be formed between her and the scientists. She will even get caught up in the evening deliriums disguised as superheroes, like the Halloween party at the comic book store.
