Steve's the popular boy at Hawkins High. He's flirting with Will's sister Nancy, who is mysteriously abducted in the first episode. If this character appears at times detestable, Steve shows that he can also be nice and sentimental, especially in his relationship with Nancy.

During the first season, the disappearance of Barabara takes place at Steve's home. While his parents are away, he takes advantage of having the house to himself to organize a small party, the perfect occasion to seduce his pretender Nancy! Barbara isolates herself from the group of young people, and ends up being absorbed in the world upside down by the Demogorgon...

Following Barb's disappearance, Nancy gradually gets closer to Jonathan Byers and the two protagonists investigate the disturbing disappearances of Will and Barbara. This closeness creates jealousy in Steve, who is convinced that Nancy is flirting with Jonathan... The two young men will come to blows, and that's why on Steve's POP figure, we find the teenager with the face marked with blows.

The details on the POP are very well done, Steve's face is swollen with eye and nose injuries. He holds the bat firmly although he is surprised by this unexpected fight with a monster in Nancy's house.
