POP Tamatoa (Moana)

Tamatoa is a giant crab, a mythological creature that lives in the kingdom of monsters in the cartoon Moana (Vaiana) from Disney studios. Moana is inspired by a Polynesian legend that tells the creation of the islands by the goddess Te Fiti. But one day, the demigod decides to go and steal the heart of the goddess, coveted by all for her power of creation, in the hope of winning the love of men. However, by depriving the goddess of her heart, Te Fiti loses her soul and Maui causes misfortune and the destruction of all life around the island. When the curse reaches the island of Moana, daughter of the future chief Tui, Motunui's future chief, she does not hesitate to leave in search of Maui to restore the heart of Te Fiti, the jade stone given to her by her grandmother. Together, they will first go in search of the magic hook of Maui which is in the kingdom of the monsters. It is in this kingdom that appears Tamatoa, the giant crab, the oldest enemy of Maui who lives in a giant shell in the depths of the kingdom.

Tamatoa is a rather pretentious and cruel character since he admits to having eaten his grandmother. He even adds with a bit of twisted humor that it took him a week to eat her because of her enormous size. He is also very narcissistic and likes to talk about himself. It is moreover by praising the character that Moana will succeed in creating a diversion while Maui gets his magic hook back, placed on his shell. They will manage to leave the monster kingdom with the famous magic hook thanks to Moana's stratagem which makes believe that she gives him the heart of Te Fiti by coating a shell with a green fluorescent substance. This small diversion allows them to escape.

On this super-sized Pop! figurine, we can see the two big pliers at the front, a bit rough. We recognize its purple and blue body. Tamatoa wears a big smile with big teeth and small diamonds that remind us of her love for shiny things. On his carapace, we see a layer of golden objects that he collects as well as the magic Maui hook. On his face, he has two big black eyes and two big purple antennae that give him a mischievous and dishonest side that sticks well to the character.
