POP action figure of Light #216
Death Note, a manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, owes its attractiveness to so many factors. One of them in particular - and not the least - is its main character. Revered by some because of his spectacular schemes, hated by others because of his machiavellianism which will increase throughout the series, Light Yagami will not leave anyone indifferent.
Light Yagami has not always been as Death Note fans know him. A bright student - Japan's first high school student - with a bright future ahead of him as he prepares to enter Todai University, Light is bored. He is such a bright boy that the world, in the end, does not live up to his expectations. And one day, without anything to prepare him for it, a seemingly insignificant notebook falls from the sky to meet his path. It is not destiny that chooses Light, but chance. A chance which, then, does things formidably well.
This notebook is presented as the Death Note, a notebook where, if you enter the name of a person, he or she dies of a heart attack within forty seconds. A notebook that also allows you to administer the death you wish to any victim by writing the circumstances of the latter in six minutes and forty seconds. Too rational to believe it, Light will let himself go and will write the first name to convince himself that this notebook is only a joke. When he discovers that the powers are real, then his destiny - like the world's - will change completely.
Yet, Light, a debonair high school student and attached to his family, with such a power, will gradually fall apart. He will lose his footing and will no longer touch the ground. Who, with the power to kill with impunity, could not take himself for God after all? Wanted by the police all over the world, Light, from his room, will administer his justice to the criminals that he will punish at a rate of hundreds per day, this, in order to create a world that he considers ideal.
The Funko POP figure of Light Yagami presents him as a simple high school student. A high school student like no other who, in addition to being frighteningly intelligent, has the means to administer death without being able to be traced. Also, the POP figure of Light Yagami is equipped with a Japanese high school uniform. This one comes with a beige jacket, dark brown pants and a white shirt with a red tie.
With such a uniform, the Funko POP Light Yagami figure, with its harmless haircut, seems to be the perfect average high school student, without a shadow on the picture. But this Funko POP Light Yagami is covered with a shadow: the notebook he holds in his right hand. A simple black notebook which, this one, is not only made to write down his lessons, but to deliver a deadly and expedient justice: the Death Note. An instrument of death that will change Light's life for the better. At least, he will believe it while, slowly but surely, he will metamorphose before becoming the dreaded Kira.
